About the project
HomeFrames is a research project of the University of Antwerp (Research Centre for Visual Poetics) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (ECHO: Media, Culture & Politics research group). The project focuses on amateur films made by migrants in post-war Belgium (1944–1974) and investigates how these films were used to document experiences of migration, identity, and ‘home-making’. HomeFrames aims to create an overview of these often invisible audiovisual stories and to map their current locations—whether in archives, institutions, or private collections.
The project is funded by Research Foundation Flanders (FWO, grant number G066825N).
